Technical Committees
Botswana standards are developed by technical committees, comprising experts from the public and private sectors which have asked for the standards, and which subsequently put them to use. These experts may include representatives of government agencies, testing laboratories, consumer associations, non-governmental organizations, manufacturers, distributors, consultants, academia and other professions.
Members/experts of the technical committees generally represent the views of their organizations and companies.  Member nominations are usually based on and supported by relevance of member expertise to the scope/work of the particular technical committee. Members are expected to liaise widely within their industry sector on specific subjects being discussed for standards development.
The Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of a Technical Committee are appointed by BOBS and are expected to serve a 3-year term.
