The Permanent Secretary
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Trade and Industry Mrs. Banny K. Molosiwa pointed out that the two bodies; BOBS and NSI represent the most important component of the development agenda for both Botswana and Namibia, thus need to ensure that they produced goods of high quality in order to be competitive in the international market. Since the inception of the SADC Standardization, Quality Assurance, Accreditation and Metrology they have seen free movement of goods and services and increased competitiveness of supplies of products and services. Mrs. Molosiwa said if both countries worked together they can succeed in their economic development through concerted efforts, cooperation and commitment.
The Managing Director of BOBS Mrs. Masego B. B. Marobela encouraged all the stakeholders involved to take advantage of the just signed MoU between BOBS and NSI for the development of the country’s economy. She also thanked the Chief Executive Officer of the NSI for “initiating and sowing this seed of our technical cooperation through facilitating the attachment training of your staff at BOBS and for availing our trainers the opportunity to deliver training courses on Standardization in Namibia”. Furthermore she expressed her gratitude to the International Organization for Standardization in general, and its Developing Country Policy Committee (DEVCO) in particular, to which both BOBS and NSI are members.
