BOBS has a Testing Unit, which is responsible for coordinating the testing activities requested by customers. BOBS testing laboratories are currently not operational and as such local and regional laboratories cooperating with BOBS are used.In some instances also international laboratories are used.

BOBS is committed to, among other things, developing the testing competency of laboratories in Botswana. This is done by assisting laboratories to implement quality assurance systems mainly. To achieve this, the Testing Unit is already undertaking the following activities:

• Training of Laboratories on ISO/IEC 17025
• National Quality Control Sample Exchange Scheme (NQCSES)
• Laboratory Consultancy
• Laboratory visits to discuss ISO/IEC 17025 implementation

Other envisaged activities, which preparations are on going, include:

• Training of Medical Laboratories on ISO/IEC 15189
• Trainig of Laboratories on Quality Control Techniques
• Training of Garment Cluster Course (BOS 154:2005)
